The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund was established as a trust and received its charity status in October 2011 and has been an Institution of a Public Character (IPC) since January 2012. It is governed by a board of Trustees. It started as a community project initiated by The Straits Times that provides pocket money to children from low-income families in Singapore to help them through school. Funds raised goes towards school pocket money disbursements and support of social and educational development of the children and youth. The children can use this money to buy a meal during recess, pay for their bus fares or use it to meet their other schooling needs. the financial help also eases the burden of many parents, who are already struggling to feed their families on their meager incomes. HOPE WORLDWIDE MALAYSIA
Hope Malaysia believes that children are the nation builder for our future generation.
However, families from the hardcore poor often sacrifice the most important element, i.e. children's education, by having their children to stop school to work in order to help the family make ends meet. Hence, the School Sponsorship Program Fund was set up to help children from the hardcore poor to complete their national school level and hopefully university. Hope Malaysia's aim is to improve lifestyle of needy families through quality healthcare, education aid and skill empowerment with the support of our network of volunteers. To date, our work has benefited more than 10,000 families. Consequently, Persatuan Kebajikan HOPE worldwide Kuala Lumpur is now working harder that ever to meet the challenge of bridging urban poor community with city lifestyle.
